more than 1,100 foreign women who were abducted and forced into marriages for pro
stitution purposes, and arrested 1,332 suspects, according to the Ministry of Public Security on Friday.
Between July and December last year, police from six countr
ies — China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand — conducted a special campaign to t
arget the abduction and trafficking of women in the border areas.
During the drive, police uncovered 760 abduction and marriage fraud cases. They
caught 1,332 suspects, including 262 foreigners. They rescued 1,130 foreign women and 17 children.
